Honey, it’s not near Cornwall, it’s IN Cornwall, near St. Cleer. We have a lot of saints. The story goes that the devil was travelling across Britain but when he reached the River Tamar (which is most of our border with the rest of the island) he stopped and said “No, I won’t go yonder, everything over there gets turned into a saint or a pasty, and I don’t feel qualified for neither.”

    Beautiful cottage.

What’s a “pasty”? (Obviously not from Cornwall.)

A “Pasty” (pronounced pah-stee) is a hand pie filled with meat stew. If you are in California in the US you can try one in Grass Valley, where many Cornish miners settled to mine gold in the 1850’s. The pasty was a way to take lunch into the mines. As long as the stew was good the pasty will be too!

There is something about that under the stair kitchen “nook” with the kinda morning glory blue tile that I find so cheery! The light handed, almost whimsical interior is such a refreshing contrast to an almost drab, non-descript exterior that it surprises and welcomes like a comfy secret grotto!

Is this cottage to let? I lived in in the Yorkshire Dales in England for 7 years and did not make it to Cornwall. I would love to go and stay in this cottage.
