    Home is lovely.
However, I do wonder if there was a financial savings by using the containers? I tend to doubt it. Does
    anyone know?

well, 5 containers can be had for about $10-15000. Obviously there was a LOT of work to weld everything together (the photostream has an amazing amount of photos of the entire project).

But I’d venture to guess this guy has some connections… I really like the high ceiling between the two containers. This is one of those touches I would want in a container home as they are a little low for my tastes. But while not a small home, a most creative one. I really like the cantilevered roof over the upstairs patio.

I live in Northern VA and was just wondering if there is a realtor, a builder, etc I could go to to buy one of these. If anyone know please let me know.

    How much are container homes

I love the outward appearance of this home and the stairs inside as well as the exposed A/C ducting downstairs. However, I would not want the heating & cooling bill here. The bedroom upstairs has a completely uninsulated wall (made even worse by the fact that it’s metal) and there is no insulation between the first and second stories meaning that a dual-zone system would be much less effective/beneficial. The hot & cold spots caused by these issues would also negatively impact the comfort of the home.

I’m not much for the style of the interior, but that’s a personal “to each their own” type thing. It is good to see that they chose High Cube containers for the downstairs for the extra ceiling height and went with standard height upstairs for a cozier feel in the sleeping areas.

      hi Jason!

My name is Hannah Bright, one of the owners/builders of the bright container house. I just wanted to clarify a few things. There are no un-insulated walls, the house is encased in 4.5 in of spray foam insulation. It is insulated between Containers as well as above the containers between the roof. Our heating/cooling bills are relatively low, compared to other homes our size. Our insulation value is an R40 when builder homes are only around R13. We made sure the house was well insulated and comfortable since we do live in Oklahoma where the temperatures can be anywhere from 0 degrees to 100.

        Hi Hanna
Just wanted to ask if you have a phone number for where you purchased the containers. I live in tulsa ok and have bought some land. I am interested in placing a container on my property. This one gives so much inspiration.

Interesting article – I have no idea why so many people are not convinced to container houses.
I really enjoy living in container house.
Unfortunately it is not so obvious how to build it properly. Personally I made a few mistakes which become annoying right now like noisy wind…
Currently with my husband I’m trying to fix it.
I’d like to give a advice to everyone who is planning to build a house from containers – take look at this book: http://tiny-uri.com//containerhouse
You can find a very detailed plans and tips how to avoid mistakes. It’s a pity I haven’t read it before construction.

HI. Was wondering why my reply was edited/censored/ cut from its entirety (as it was quite complimentary, relative, and reiterated what over 3o previous replies/comments also now missing – said and asked)? Perhaps Steven/Hannah could be of assistance? Thanks

I was wondering if your company builds with containers in the USA. Especially the first home shown which was just beautiful and so very functional. Thank you for letting me know in advance. Phone: 928-203-4579, Sedona, Arizona.
