I think they should of named this the “sauna house”. The bed room looks like they put a bed in a sauna room. However, I do love the simplicity and wind expanse of windows.
I don’t know anyone who could or does live this minimalist; looks very staged.
It also makes me wonder if the human race has become that devoid of everything within ourselves, and this is art reflecting reality.
I like this house. The open feel of the central area is amazing. My first reaction was WOW and I pinned it as such. BUt as I continued to look at it, I realized the enclosures (as I see the bedrooms) make for great photos, and while they’re elegant in their simplicity, I can’t help but feel there’s something oppressive about them. A bedroom is a child or teen’s retreat in the home, much like we like to view our master bedrooms with ensuite baths. I can’t imagine them wanting this for themselves without some convincing on the part of the parents or designer(s). As I said, they photograph beautiful but if you look long enough, you start to feel how stifling and oppressive they are. And, really, the more I think about it, where is an expression of the family in this house? I see the designer’s expression and creativity, but where are the family photos, the kids’ drawings or creations, posters — anything that says anything about them? It’s almost like they’ve had their personalities designed right out from under them.
I would love to live in this house with my family. The only thing I would add is storage under the floor boards so when the thousands of Legos my kids have clutter the living space, I could sweep them into bins under the floor. I would be ready for any photographer… By the way, looks like plenty of wall space for kids to hang their art in their rooms!
It seems to me that the purpose of the design is to provide a calm uninterrupted commune with nature and each other, and the bedrooms are womb-like and peaceful. Once they leave their home, the world, with the normal bombardment of stimulation and demands, will once again be the largest part of the day. This home feels like a retreat where the most important elements of life are the focus.
