Nice job, not. Cold as hell metal walls and heat leaking cheap sliding doors are no way to go through life, son.

Your “recycling” job is going to waste a metric crapload of energy and be uncomfortable as hell.

So that’s what jealousy sounds like.

Dick windows are much better than they used to be, depends on the quality of what you buy and technology available to you. The outside has a 2nd skin on it so I assume they were smart enough to insulate before or while putting that outside cladding on. If you look carefully you will notice that the external walls are quite thick. Besides it looks like they have a whole woodland at their disposal and a nice wood fire going. Seems to me it might be quite snug. Not to your taste does not mean it is ‘crap’.

Good luck to them. Thank you for sharing you sweet container home.

Wow. What a ridiculous comment. This house was built by architects and quebecers know a thing or two about proper insulation for cold weather. Your life must be really sad, “Dick”.

I think it would be a nice little retirement home for some of course, not for all. I think the idea and appeal of the small homes is the comfort of knowing that you have a home without the large mortgage. It might not always be the most comfortable place to some, but being able to sleep at night without financial worries is comforting enough for me. It would be great to be able to see how well the little house is insulated.

Pretty nice use of a container!!!

Looking through the windows, it appears to me that there is a thick layer of insulation between the container walls and the siding and that the windows are multiple glazed. The metal walls of the container are in the inside where they can function as thermal mass, holding the warmth and radiating it back in. It looks like a warm and comfortable house in the north country to me! How far north are you anyway?

Love the combination of painted metal and birch ply…….nice clean lines. Must have used EPS or more to sheath the outside walls? If so, it makes for a nice exterior look with great texture on the interior.
