There are 1000’s of small abandoned dwellings that could be turned in to near little houses like this all over France. They’re really cheap too. I’m renovating one myself (albeit slightly larger than a Tiny House)

where in France and what does it take to purchase one. We would love to remodel one for us to retire to.

Hi Jack. All over France. There are some websites that list them, but my experience has been that the really small properties like these are often only listed in a local agency or notaires’ window. If the agent doesn’t speak English or the area isn’t popular with ex-pats it probably isn’t getting listed on the English websites. You almost have to get out and find them. I see lots of them when I’m out riding my bike. A house roughly twice the size of this one, about a mile from my house, sold for 13,000 euros a couple of years ago (including the agent and notaires fees) and the guy who purchased it (a Kiwi) has fixed it up himself – much like I’m doing with mine. Last year there was another on the same road that sold for around 5,000 euros to an English couple and that was proper tiny like this one, but they had to pay around 3,000 euros on top to get the water and electric connected if I remember correctly.

Everything was charming until the bathroom. Not sure why, but that vanity and mirror just totally ruins the entire feel.

I’ve got a manual typewriter to work on my novel and some Virgin Wool to knit a blanket and I am all set.

Just like many houses where I live in Normandy, too. 🙂 Many of our friends live in houses like this, and others have renovated them as gites – good thick walls, easily heated by a woodburner (wood is plentiful in France). Very nice. You need a notaire’s office to find the bargains.

I would love to have a small home such as this. The price is certainly right.
