although I love the layout and the space I don’t like the color scheme and the feel of the materials. It looks cold and hard and unwelcoming. even if materials were added in that were in the same color schemes but softer cozier looking, fluffy pillows cotton blankets cover some knick knacks or something that shows a little bit of preference as opposed to the emptiness in the pictures I think that would be great. The problem with small houses is they usually have to stand on their own for the most part since space is an issue but using a cold material instead of a warmer wood means you have to make up the difference elsewhere.

Love the outside but the inside could be lots better. Needs colors! It’s depressing inside.

My thoughts exactly! It’s a very clinical, cold space.

I love the design and enjoy the simplicity of the indoor also, but where does the insulation fit in? Surely this must be an insulated concrete form with sort of a thin plaster or stucco on both sides?

I want to like it but it’s pretty bleak, isn’t it!

Mindfulness Within The Box… Keen design is never “depressing” to me… okay, it’s a little austere compared to much of the prevailing gobbley gook that’s around, but I love the subtleties, the simplicity, the contrasts, light, vantage points, angles, squares, straightforward materials and furnishings – understated yet dramatic – highly functional. SUBLIME… I am pleasantly surprised by how much I like this house. A few highly personal or symbolic accents and I’d be right at HOME!

Yep, just a few minor changes in finishing and it’s perfect!
Would have liked to see photos of the sleeping space and entry inside. Any storage?

I want one! Is it possible to purchase plans from the architect?

Where’s the price? Did I miss it?

Too austere, cold, and lacking in personality. I have seen the minimalist look done before where there was still some warmth in the home, but this isn’t it.

I’d end up putting in wood paneling and a fireplace together with some splashes of red color, (throw pillows,) and large pictures on the wall (modern: black, white with splash of red; same as pillow).

I like reinforced concrete for the strength and adapting to various form and shape design.

However, this build has that heavy thick dark natured foreboding presense that reminds me of a military installation built as a forward observation center or gun emplacement near the old borders of a few years ago.
A mere coat of paint or some application or combinations of veneer on the outside would lighten the look to me and adding some type color or texture that would enhance it from the outside.

The same also goes for the interior. I immediately think of it as being the home or lair for a ” James Bond ” henchman.

Love the warmth of the wood against the cool walls.

It is austere. That’s it’s charm. It looks like a place to be quiet in, to mediate and be away from all distractions. Where do I sign up?

Outside looks interesting, but inside, pure concrete, small windows, austere furniture creates an unwelcome atmosphere. I bookmarked it into my “to avoid” section.

Looks like a place you would find a Monk sitting at the table slumped over a book.

So many people are confusing decorating and architecture on this post. The interior looks austere because it isn’t decorated. The architecture is beautiful and the house would look beautiful if it were decorated.
